The award winning duo Sweetheart made waves in the Norwegian music scene in 2018/2019 with their acoustic and subdued Americana and the release of a few singles, including «Ghosts» which gained international recognition. Their debut album «Sweetheart» was released in 2020, hailed as one of the most beautiful albums of the year, and earned them the prestigious Spellemann Award – Norwegian Grammy Award – in the country category. In the spring of 2024 Sweetheart won their second Spellemann Award for their second album, «I Will Love You When The Morning Comes».

In the winter of 2023/2024 Sweetheart recorded their highly anticipated second album, «I Will Love You When The Morning Comes» at the legendary Athletic Sound in Halden with producer Kai Andersen. They recorded ten songs that are brimming with Scandinavian melancholy and sentimentality, filled with memories of something, the feeling of someone absent, of something not being quite right, and sometimes the feeling of darkness creeping in. «I Will Love You When The Morning Comes» is minimalistic and melancholic Americana—it's understated and nostalgic, acoustic and emotionally charged country that isn't entirely country. And they received invaluable help. The album features jazz legend Nils Petter Molvær on trumpet, and Fats Kaplin, who has collaborated with Beck, Jack White and John Prine, recorded pedal steel, dobro, banjo, and fiddle in Nashville. Multi-instrumentalist Freddy Holm, who has participated in over 300 releases and collaborated with artists such as Madrugada, Ane Brun, Erlend Ropstad, and Taylor Swift, arranged and performed the strings.

The album was released September 1, 2023, and was described as «One of the most beautiful pieces of music created on this side of the millennium», and the duo was referred to as «Norway's most skilled ballad makers.» Following the release Sweetheart embarked on a nationwide tour to promote the album, and they played 16 concerts all over Norway. Sweetheart's live performances are known for their captivating, emotionally charged, and understated delivery. The haunting harmonies and minimalist arrangements often leave audiences in awe-struck silence. Sweetheart is currently composed of John-Arne Ø. Gundersen on guitar and vocals and Anne Mette Hårdnes on piano and vocals.
